Approved programs are those that have been accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS); programs that have been approved by individual State Departments of Health Sciences; or programs that meet eligibility requirements established by the ASCP Board of Certification.

Recent graduates may also apply for the awards, provided they have graduated within the last 9 months of the date of filing their application.
